Pastoral Ministries

All of us are engaged in the Society's mission in ways appropriate to the varied contexts in which we work. For we have one mission, shared by priests and brothers, and many ministries which we undertake as a service of Jesus Christ and his work of reconciling the world to God.

--GC 34, Decree 2: Servants of Christ's Mission, #23

Fr. Dan Mai, S.J.The officially sponsored works of the Society of Jesus in the Oregon Province represent only part of what Jesuits do or help to do. Jesuits of the Oregon Province continue to walk among the people of God today as collaborators and companions to make the faith visible throughout the Northwest. We continue to follow the tradition of Fr. DeSmet and minister wherever the need is greatest.

As pastors of diocesan parishes, or as weekend priests who have full-time weekday jobs; as chaplains in prisons or hospitals, or even in the United States Army Special Forces; as lawyers providing legal services for the poor and the court; as retreat directors and spiritual directors; as heads of various diocesan administrative offices; as a vocational teacher working in a work release program in Spokane, or as the president of Tri-Cities Preparatory School in Pasco; as artists and writers; as men of prayer, BlessingJesuits of the Oregon Province are engaged in the life of the Church and of the world.
