The Society of Jesus (commonly called The Jesuits) are one of the largest religious orders in the Catholic Church. The Society of Jesus was founded in 1540 by St. Ignatius Loyola, a Basque nobleman and soldier, who found God in all things. Today there are over 20,000 Jesuits serving the Church in 112 nations on six continents.
The Oregon Province is one of 10 provinces in the United States. Today in the five states of the Northwest which make up the Oregon Province(Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and Alaska) , about 260 Jesuits live and work.
